Barhoum: Hamas does not recruit individuals outside Palestine

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas has denied any knowledge of a cell captured in Egypt for recruiting individuals to channel assistance and money to Hamas in the Gaza Strip in addition to planning hostile attacks in Egypt.

Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, said in a press statement on Wednesday that his movement knew of the issue through the media, and stressed that Hamas does not recruit anyone outside Palestine.

He underlined that Hamas recruits Palestinian individuals inside Palestine to resist occupation and the only one targeted in its operations is the "Zionist enemy".

The spokesman renewed affirmation that Hamas does not interfere in the internal affairs of any country, and highlighted that Egypt was fully entitled to secure its borders and to assert its sovereignty on its land.

The Egyptian attorney general on Wednesday charged the secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party, Hassan Nasrallah, with planning hostile attacks in Egypt and disseminating Shiite beliefs in the country.

A statement by the prosecution said that Hizbullah sent some of its cadres to Egypt to organize a group of people with the goal of disturbing peace and security in addition to channeling money to Hamas.
