DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Khaled Mishaal, the head of Hamas political bureau, called on the Arab states to freeze the settlement process and adopt the policy of open options, stressing that the solution to the Palestinian internal rift lies in returning to the real national options of the Palestinian people.
During a ceremony organized by the Movement of Islamic Jihad in Damascus on the anniversary of its inception, Mishaal called on the Arab states to suspend their peace efforts and hold the US, Israel and the international quartet fully responsible for that.
He pointed out that Abbas’s alleged declaration that he would resign did not embarrass the US, saying the remarks made recently by secretary of state Hillary Clinton and others did not show any care about Abbas’s intent to resign.
“The American administration is unwilling and unable to do us justice, and does not want to enrage Israel for our sake. America is doing that because its interests are guaranteed with Arabs whether they were angry with it or not, but its interests with Israel is not guaranteed and has a price,” the Hamas leader underlined.
“America cannot turn its back to Israel for fear of its revenge,” he added.
Mishaal underlined that his Movement was ready for internal reconciliation on the basis of Palestinian national constants.
Meanwhile, in a press statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC), newly released Hamas lawmaker Mohamed Badr said that any inter-Palestinian reconciliation agreement must protect the national constants or else it would be incomplete and nominal.
Badr strongly condemned the Palestinian Authority’s option of negotiations with the Israeli occupation as a long and dark tunnel, adding that the Palestinian people discover everyday the reality and the results of this option on the ground.
He noted that the option of negotiations did not achieve the Palestinian goals, but it consolidated the occupation and its schemes in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
