GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, on Tuesday said that the statements by Mahmoud Abbas, the former PA chief, against resistance proved his involvement in liquidating it in the West Bank.

Abu Zuhri told the PIC that Abbas's statement to the British Guardian newspaper that he refused armed resistance against Israeli occupation and would continue his effort to block it was a clear indication of the "serious" twist in Fatah's policy.

He explained that the new policy of Fatah, under leadership of Abbas, meant giving up resistance and combating it while holding on to the settlement process and coexisting with the Israeli occupation authority (IOA).

Abbas also told the Guardian that he was ready to return to negotiations with the IOA if it halted settlement activity for three months.

Meanwhile, the militias loyal to Abbas rounded up three Hamas supporters in the West Bank over the past 24 hours, a Hamas statement in the West Bank said on Tuesday.

It added that among those kidnapped was 50-year-old Sheikh Faisal Saba'na, who was released only a few days earlier from those militias' jails due to his worsening health condition.

The militias abducted two other supporters of Hamas, who were also previously imprisoned by the IOA.
