For First Time in Three Decades… Israeli Existence Threatened!

04/03/2010 Believe it or not…

For the first time in three decades, the Zionist entity feels threatened in its mere existence…

For the first time since the Israeli enemy ended its hugest wars with the Arabs in 1973, the "existential threat" appeared again in the Israeli discussion battlegrounds at all levels…

At least, this "threat" seems to be very well reflected in the Israeli media outlets, mainly concerned with the new balances set by Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah and consolidated by the Damascus meeting that joined the Resistance leader with the Syrian and Iranian Presidents Bachar Assad and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad…

The stances delivered by Sayyed Nasrallah as well as various Iranian and Syrian leaders without neglecting the other Resistance factions in the region couldn't pass un-noticed especially after being reflected in the latest Damascus summit…

Israelis rushed to "study, analyze, interpret and explore" these stances just after being released and a "deep" Israeli concern appeared in public, urging the Israeli daily to ask clear questions it has never dared to raise in the past, questions that are related to the entity's fate and future, to the existential threats and challenges represented by the so-called "terror axis," in the terms of the Israeli media.

In this context, Israeli daily Haaretz said that Israel is risking a war of attrition in which Tel Aviv will be hit by missiles and Ben-Gurion International Airport will be closed. "And the longer the violence continues, the more international firms will leave the country; the talented and wealthy will abandon it, too," the daily went on to say.

While accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of "playing poker," Haaretz raised deep questions: "What will happen if diplomacy and sanctions fail, as they are expected to, and Ahmadinejad continues on his nuclear path? Will Netanyahu then be able to pull back from his heated statements and announce that the Iranian threat is not so bad? Or has he already burned the bridge for a withdrawal and will have to go to war?"

Yet, the Israeli daily "consoled" itself by saying that US President Barack Obama won't abandon Israel to its fate. "What will he do? Will he turn off the American early warning radar in the Negev and announce that there will be no airlift and no diplomatic support, and as far as he's concerned Tel Aviv can burn because Israel acted against his advice? It's hard to imagine that Obama will abandon Israel to its fate. He can only complain and signal to Netanyahu that American support is not guaranteed for any Israeli action."

For its part, Israeli daily Yedihot Ahronot called on Israelis to attentively listen to the words of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over wiping Israel out. According to the daily, Sunnis and Shiites differ in everything but are ready to embrace themselves to achieve one ultimate goal: remove Israel from the map.

The Israeli daily noted that Hezbollah Secretary General believes that the nation of Israel is dispersed and isolated. "He's right," Yedihot Ahronot went on to say.

"For many years now, the Israeli Army has been failing military tests and not reaching the achievements it secured in its first 20 years. We better pay attention to that. Is the General Staff able to adopt the doctrine shaped by the previous army chief, avoiding the massive deployment of armored and ground forces and emphasizing the integration of the Air Force, Special Forces, and real-time intelligence? Is the current General Staff capable of properly preparing for future challenges? I doubt it."
