RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Eishel prison has refused to treat a prisoner immobilized by an unknown disease, a leading prisoner in Beersheba has told Al Asra Center for Studies.

Ahmed Ibrahim al-Ak of Bethlehem, 26, has not been able to move or take on normal activity after being afflicted by a disease left uncovered by the Israeli Prison Service, Tawfiq Abu Naeem has reported.

Suffering severe daily pain, Ak had notified the prison doctor, who showed little concern. He had also gone to the hospital but returned to the prison without success. The prison has refused to provide treatment at the pretext that they cannot treat him without proper medical tests, but at the same time refuse to provide him with or arrange those tests.

Abu Naeem said hundreds of other prisoners suffer from pains and are not taken to specialists or provided laboratory tests.

Ak was sentenced by Israel to 11 years in prison and has been held in detention since June 2005.
