Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei assured Monday that the Islamic awakening did not differentiate between sects, and warned of Western plots and conspiracies against the popular uprisings in the Middle East.

In a statement he delivered before participants in the “International Conference on Youths and Islamic Awakening”, Imam Khamenei greeted the peoples’ uprising against dictators, indicating that “this is a blessed and advanced step towards revolting against the international dictatorship of the corrupt and malicious network of Zionism and arrogance.”

His eminence pointed out that “the enemies are trying to make up for the damages they have sustained due to popular uprisings in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and other Islamic countries.”

He added that “they are busy with designing plots and conspiracies,” warning that “the Islamic nations, especially the youths who are the engine of the Islamic Awakening, should not allow the global network of tyranny to hijack their revolutions.”

In parallel, Imam Khamenei stressed the importance of continuing in the struggle against global arrogance by relying on God as well as the peoples’ determination and firmness.

He addressed those who considered that victory against “the international network of Zionist dictatorship” is impossible, saying: “If anyone would have spoken in the past about the victory of the faithful youth of Hezbollah against the Zionist entity, or about the humiliation of Egypt’s tyrant, as well as the developments in North Africa, or about the victory and the development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, not many would have believed that.”

Here, Imam Khamenei mentioned the various common principles between the Islamic peoples, considering that “motivating division in the Islamic row is part of the enemies’ plots.”
The supreme leader of the Islamic Republic also tackled the Bahraini crisis, pointing to some media attempts to isolate the Bahraini people.

“Western media is trying to present the Bahraini issue as a sectarian problem between the Shiites and the Sunnis, but the truth is that this movement does not differ from any of the movements in other countries,” he said.
