Security, Calm Restored to al-Haffeh, UN Observers Called upon to Insepct the Situation

LATTAKIA, (SANA) – Authorities have restored security and clam to al-Haffeh district after clearing it from the armed terrorist groups which terrorized citizens and sabotaged several public and private properties.

An official source in Lattakia province told SANA reporter that the authorities tracked down the armed terrorist groups in the villages surrounding al-Haffeh and clashed with them leading to the killing of many terrorists and arresting others.

The authorities also seized huge amounts of advanced weapons used by armed terrorist groups, including sniper rifles, explosive devices, RPG launchers and a large amount of ammunition.

The source added that clashes also led to the martyrdom of a number of the authorities' members and wounding others.

Foreign Ministry Calls on UN Observers to Inspect Situation in al-Haffeh

Later, an official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry stated that the Ministry has called on the UN observers to go to al-Haffe city and inspect the situation there after the armed terrorist groups in the city carried out operations of killing and terrorizing against the innocent citizens and acts of looting and vandalism against public and private properties and shops.

The Ministry said this call comes in the framework of the observers' mission to verify what is taking place on the ground and inspect the acts of these terrorist groups.

Haffa region, SyriaWell-informed sources told Al-Manar website that anti Syrian regime armed groups have abducted a group of young civilians from villages neighboring the Haffa area.
During the incident, which occurred days before, the militants threatened to kill the civilians, the sources said.

The sources also believed the insurgents might commit a new massacre by killing the kidnapped civilians, so the regular forces could be held accountable for it, in accordance with previous statements issued by Washington.
Al-Manar website sources linked between the kidnapping and death threats on one hand, and statements of the U.S. State spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, who warned of a "massacre the Syrian government may be preparing for in the region of Haffa,” according to U.S. allegations.
The U.N. envoy Kofi Annan has expressed his "deep concerns" about the escalation of violence between governmental forces and opposition groups in Syria, and called to allow "immediate" access for international observers to enter the city of Haffa in Latakia region.

Lebanese-Syrian border townsThe Lebanese-Syrian border has witnessed violent clashes and kidnapping incident fueling the unrest between the two countries.
Violent clashes erupted between the Syrian army and armed groups near Al-Qa’a town. Three Syrians were killed and ten others were wounded and were taken to Hermel hospitals.

The Syrian news agency SANA said that the passengers of two Syrian buses that were passing through Al-Qsseir-Joseiyeh which is adjacent to the Lebanese border were kidnapped by an armed group.
Suleiman Al-AhmadIn Wadi Khaled, Suleiman Al-Ahmad was yesterday released by the Syrian authorities.

Heavy celebratory gunfire erupted and he was welcomed by a mass rally.

Al-Ahmed said upon his arrival that “entire Wadi Khaled is wanted by the Syrian regime and I thank the brothers from the Alawite and Shiite sects who contributed to freeing me.”

He told TV stations after his release that “we were treated like guests, and they’ve been kind to us.”

Tit-for-tat abductions have been taking place in the Wadi Khaled border region between the two countries, where tensions have run high between supporters and opponents of the Syrian regime.
