|Syrian Refugees in Jordan|
Jordan`s Information Minister Sameeh Maaytah said Tuesday Syrians who already arrived in Jordan since the outbreak of the uprising in their country in March 2011 will stay in what he calls an "emergency camp," where health and other services will be provided.
The Jordanian minister said the International Organization for Migration will establish its own separate camps to shelter non-Syrians fleeing Syria.
During its Monday’s session, chaired by Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh, the Jordanian Cabinet also decided to allow the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to establish camps for foreigners who come to Jordan via the Syrian territories in order to organise ways to deal with them.
The Associated Press (AP) report added that Jordan is hosting 140,000 Syrian refugees.
Last week, the number of incoming refugees suddenly quadrupled to 1,000 per day, AP reported according to officials, but returned to its normal average of 250 this week.
