Hunger Strike

Hunger Strike

Reasonable tactics, a beloved Irishman once opined, and we thought in a sense we were
Teaching them love, but they never could learn this one lesson worth learning.
America the beautiful, America the free, America the inhuman.
America the Tyrannosaurus Rex of the human psyche,
With a label listing the ingredients: savagery, brutality, cruelty, barbarity,
With lots of chemical additives and genetically modified organisms—all inserted
Into the stomach through a feeding tube.

America become a solecism as the Jewish pachyderm took control of its whistle,
And a perky new tune began to sound out, though one with more than a few discordant
Notes here and there. If you fear God he will make good your deliverance, says the Quran,
But America, it seems, stopped fearing God when it unleashed its hellfire on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and so it will not win its deliverance from the Jewish pachyderm,
And it will not become less of a solecism—only a much, much greater one. And America’s
Prayer at its “house of God” will be to please, dear lord, palm off its toxic derivatives,

As it serves up more helpings of hellfire—the Fallujah fortnight, vile as the intoxication
Of an American night on the town, O forgive us, dear Occupier, we really
Didn’t mean to burden you with our heaps of charred corpses, or our deformed
Babies, or to furnish the world with such a site! And we deprive ourselves now
Of this food to show you our lament…for this and really no other reason…for certainly
You have treated us admirably and nobly! A palm tree, an iguana, so less is
The view, but who is really in prison in this American oubliette?

One face, many devils. In the middle of the night, when the moon is in conjunction
With rot and pestilence, Ben Bernanke lights up a kosher cigar and tells the other
Central bankers at the table that things are running a bit behind schedule, a much
Tighter ship is needed. “Why utter things that ought not to be uttered?” he asked.
Prudence should not be left in the toilet. One devil, many faces. “Tell me,” he added,
A radioactive worm of supremacism crawling briefly from his eyelid, “in the coming
Battle of Betar, which of my sons and brothers will live and which will die?”

Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? The constellation
Of the dragon hung suspended in the great night sky above Occupied Palestine,
For there is nothing hidden that will not become manifest. America the free,
America the beautiful, America the Tyrannosaurus Rex of the human psyche,
With a label listing the ingredients: savagery, brutality, cruelty, barbarity
And Jewishness—inserted into the stomach through a feeding tube. America the risqué!
Tyrannosaurus Rex…looking at the birds…headed into extinction.
