Shyam Chand’s article “Ugly Hidden Face of Terrorism: Vigilance is the Price of Liberty” that appeared in Mainstream (September 6, 2008) was a good piece of investigative journalism exposing the nefarious activities of the saffron terrorists (on the basis of which the recent arrests of suspected saffron terrorists took place). The author thus did yeoman service to the nation. The following is a follow-up of that article. —Editor
When asked to define Tohra, Hilel, before Christ, replied: ‘Love thy neighbour as thyself. That is the whole Law and the rest is commentary.’ He confronted ‘Herod the Great’ when he was on a killing spree (killing even his own wife Mariane and three sons) and whispered his holy injunction: ’Do not unto others as you would not have them do unto you.’

In her book, The Battle For God, Karen Armstrong writes: ’’To this day the placards and graffiti on the walls of the anti-Zionist district in Jerusalem equate the political leaders of the state of Israel with Hitler………The more rooted Zionism became in Israel and the more successful the new state, the deeper and more principled was Neturei Karta’s (the Guardian of the City’s) repudiation of both. There could be no possibility of reconciliation, because the state of Israel was the creation of Satan.’’ As Teifelbaum explained, it was not possible for a Jew ‘to adhere to both faith in the state and faith in our holy Tohra, for they are quite opposites’.

Rabbi Shimon Israel Posen, a leading Jewish scholar, denounced the members of the Knesset (Parliament):

’’Woe unto them for the shame of it, that the people who put on phylacteries every day sit in that assembly called the ‘Knesset’ and signing their names to falsehood, forge the signature of the Holy One, blessed be He, heaven forefend. For they think they can decide by majority vote whether the ‘Tohra of truth will be trampled upon even further or whether Tohra will be granted authority’.’’

This is the opinion of Jews about the state of Israel. The fact of the matter is that in every major world religion fundamentalism has become a potent force. In the absence of piety and spiritualism, people are interpreting religion in their own way. In this process fundamentalism has been resisting the assault of modernity. Hapless people are becoming victims of the victims of the holocaust.

Rev Thomas L. Are, a pastor in the Presby-terian Church, once declared: ‘I am a Zionist.’ He got awakening when he read Beyond Occupation by Marc Ellis in 1990.

Realising his ignorance and mistake Rev Are wrote Israel Peace/Palestine Conflict in 1994. In this book he quotes the distinguished British historian, Arnold J. Toynbee: ’’The treatment of Palestinian Arabs in 1947 (and 1948) was as morally indefensible as the slaughter of six million Jews by the Nazis. Though not comparable in quantity to the crimes of Nazis, it was comparable in quality.’’

Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of Treasury during President Reagan’s first term. He was also Associate Editor of the Wall Street Journal, Head of Strategic and International Studies and an author of many books including An Insider’s Account of Policymaking in Washington. Commenting on Rev Are’s book, he says: ’’Rev Are provides the readers with Naim Ateek’s description of what happened to him, an 11-year-old, when the Jews came to Beisan on May 12, 1948. The entire Palestinian community disappea-red.’’

In 1949 the UN counted 711,000 Palestine refugees. In 2005 UN Relief and Works Agency estimated 4.25 million Palestinians and their descendants. The Partition plan assigned 56 per cent of Palestine to Israel and 44 per cent to Palestine. Now, Palestinians have 22 per cent and the rest has been annexed by Israel by force.

Rev Are cites the report of Washington Post, ‘Save The Children’. It concluded that ‘one-third of beaten children were under ten years old, one-fifth under the age of five. Nearly a third of children beaten suffered broken bones.’

Former Israeli Defence Minister, later Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, explained punitive action: ‘Our task is to recruit a barrier and once again put the fear of death into the Arabs of the area.’

Roberts quotes Ralph Schoeman, Executive Director of the Bertrand Russell Foundation, from his article which appeared in Sunday Times of June 19, 1977: ’’Israeli interrogators routinely ill-treat and torture Arab prisoners. Prisoners are hooded or blind folded and are hung by their wrists for long periods. Most are struck in the genitals or in other ways sexually abused. Most are sexually assaulted. Others are administered electric shocks.”

Amnesty International concluded that ‘’there is no country in the world in which use of official and sustained torture is as established and documented as in the case of Israel”.

The pro-Israeli Washington Post reported: Prisoners are dragged on the ground, beaten with objects, killed, striped and placed under ice-cold showers.

Quoting from Rev Are’s book, Robert writes: ‘’Sounds like Abu Ghraib. Their news reports that Israeli torture experts participated in the torture of the detainees assembled by the American military as part of the Bush regime’s propaganda onslaught to convince the Americans that Iraq was overflowing with Al-Qaeda terrorists. Now the Iraqi Government has released 109, 087 Iraqis that Americans had detained. No one will ever know how many of them (‘terrorist detainees’) were abused by Israeli torturers imported by the CIA.’’

Anyone who doubts this can read the book of Israel’s finest historian, Ilan Pappe, The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.

Prof Benjamin M. Weir, San Francisco Theological Seminary, comments on Rev Are’s book: ‘’The book will make the reader squirm. It asks you to lend your voice on behalf of the voiceless’’.

Rev Are writes : ‘’Speak up for the Palestinians and you will make enemies. Yet, as Christians, we must be willing to raise issues that until now we have chosen to dodge.”

Jimmy Carter, a friend of Israel who brokered the Camp David Accord between Egypt and Israel, tried to awaken American conscience in his book Palestine : Peace Not Apartheid. He was instantly demonised by the Israel lobby.

IN his The Real Trade of CIA and Mossad, Paul J. Balles, a retired American professor and free lance writer says: ‘’CIA in America and Mossad in Israel should have been prize winners as terrorists, because in dozen of situations around the world they have indulged their love of instilling fear in innocent people. If the bombing, invasion and occupation of Iraq were not terrorism at its worst, it is only because of the death of 4098 Americans is a more important statistics than the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians.’’

According to him, the US paid the Pakistani ‘bounty hunters’ to capture and deliver innocent men to be sent to Gautanamo to be tortured. ‘’The support of Israeli carnage in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria and West Bank is outright support of terrorism.’’

In a newly released book, The Way of the World, the Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, Ron Suskind, writes: ’‘The CIA Directorate of Operations was responsible for fabricating the documents that presented evidence of Saddam Hussain’s complicity in the 9/11 attack. British M16 recruited Saddam’s intelligence chief, Tahir al-Jalil al-Tikriti, and questioned him in Amman two months before the war and then handed him over to CIA.’’

After the fall of Saddam, Al-Tikriti, at the instance of the CIA, had handwritten a letter on an official Iraqi Government letter-head stating that Mohammad Atta, the ring leader of the 9/11 hijackers, underwent training in Iraq and the Al-Qaeda aided Saddam in obtaining uranium from Niger. Both the claims were falsified later. Al-Tikriti remained in US custody and his name continued to appear on the list of wanted members of Saddam’s regime.

Now, Americans have started noting the nexus between the CIA and Mossad and their voice against them is getting louder and louder by the day.

In Zionism – A Pernicious Virus and a World Problem, Les Visible writes: ‘’When you look at who heads up a number of main departments at Homeland Security you find mostly Zionist Jews. When you look at who pushed the Iraqi war and who is pushing for an attack on Iran you come up with a preponderance of Zionist Jews. Five Israeli were found celebrating the assault of the WTC. How did they know?’’

The list is never-ending. ‘’It is beyond strange at this point. How is that Zionist Americans and Israeli Jews are connected to so many things involving murders, single and plural? How is that the same Israeli security firm was in-charge of all 9/11 airports as well as the London Tube and Madrid train station at the time of attack?’’ Informed research points the finger of accusation to the same group of people. ‘’It turns out that the number of people murdered makes the Holocaust industry victims bigger killers than victims.’’

He concludes: ‘’So it appears that those who have told the truth are libelled and slandered and also correct in what they say…… It turns out that large portion of those accused of being anti-semitic were really just guilty of telling the truth; not that anyone was listening.’’

Yes, some people are listening, pondering and introspecting. We had been according a hero’s welcome to Yasser Arafat every time he visited India and empathised with the sufferings of the people of the Palestine and raised our voice in world fora against the atrocities Israel committed on them. Last month Mahmoud Abbas came and went away unnoticed.

With liberalisation, privatisation and globali-sation India re-established its diplomatic relations with Israel which Nehru severed after the attack on the Suez Canal and the entire Arab world not only embraced this ‘Kafir’ but apotheosised him (Poet Amir Amrohi of Pakistan).

After the BJP came to power in 1998 India shifted its international stance considerably and moved towards close military relationship with America and its Israeli client. Brijesh Mishra, National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Vajpaee, established in Washington a ‘triad’—neocons, Jews and saffron fascists—to take on the Muslims in India. ‘’These military and political contacts are supplemented by coordination of influential Hindu nationalists and Israeli lobbies in the US.’’

Now, every limb of the body politic of India is infested with the saffron virus. The RSS fascists are involved in blasts—Tenkasi, Nanded, Godhra, Mecca Masjid, Kanpur, Malegaon and perhaps other places also where their subversive activities are not detected for want of presence of minorities in security agencies. Any absence of evidence is evidence of absence in the absence of secular investigating agencies.

Fone Fakers were invented by the CIA and Mossad before 9/11 which was an inside job of both of them. The same Fone Fakers are used in India. Innocent people are arrested on the basis of calls made through these Fone Fakers.

Investigating agencies have adopted the Mossad’s techniques of breaking down the suspected ‘terrorists’ to confess the crime which they did not commit. The same techniques of torture, as applied in the Guantanamo torture chambers by the CIA with the help of imported Mossad, where prisoners are hooded, blindfolded, dragged on the ground, sexually assaulted, struck in genitals, administrated electric shocks, put under ice-cold shower, burnt with cigarette buds, forced to drink urine etc., are used here. Muhammad Khalid of Jaunpur and Muhammad Tariq of Azamgarh (both in UP) had to undergo these torture techniques to extract confession whereas saffron terrorists are either easily let off ‘for want of evidence’ or treated with velvet gloves. But the latter are never subjected to Israeli torture techniques.

Not only is the nexus between the RSS and Mossad worth investigation, our defence co-operation with Israel needs reconsideration before the ominous shadow of Mossad falls on our defence forces. n
