Hizbollah confirms broad aid for Hamas

Link

Sheikh Naim Qassem, the deputy secretary-general of Hizbollah, gives a rare interview to the FT, here

"Hizbollah has been providing the Palestinians in Gaza with “every type of support” possible for some time, the deputy leader of the powerful Lebanese Shia movement has said, in a remarkable admission of a widening regional role. Sheikh Naim Qassem’s frank comments to the Financial Times are the first clear confirmation of Hizbollah’s broad assistance to the Palestinian Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip.

The comments are likely to alarm Israel, which fought an unsuccessful war against Hizbollah in 2006. The statements will also worry the new US administration as it steps up its engagement in the Middle East. Hizbollah and its allies stand a good chance of winning the June 7 parliamentary elections in Lebanon.

“We have always said that we supported the resistance in Palestine but we have not mentioned how or given details of such support,” Sheikh Qassem said, in a rare interview at a secret location in southern Beirut. “But Egypt has now revealed that we have given military support to Palestine. We have done so for a while but we have not talked about it.”...

Sheikh Qassem left no doubt that Hizbollah, which proved itself surprisingly strong militarily during a 34-day war with Israel in 2006, was now acting regionally to oppose the Jewish state. “It is one of the secrets of the resistance that we don’t talk about the details of our support, but suffice to say that we are giving them every type of support that could help the Palestinian resistance. Every type that is possible,” he said. Pressed on whether Hizbollah was supplying arms or training, the sheikh said: “We leave this to be seen in time to come.”......"

  1. UP, do you remember when there were certain guys saying that Hizbullah and Iran offered no help to the palestinians other than sermons? LOL

They missed that this type of solidarity usually runs behind the curtains, and isn't advertised on the media. But it only had to be guessed, after the public declarations they did.

  2. Yes, I do remember, though my opinion was (and still is) that they better shaved their beards to spare some lives. I'm aware zion neads no motives to murder and maim, but some of them were killed just because they had a beard, and lives cannot be wasted for such a minor issue. Allah loves them regardless the beard. But you were right anyway.

  3. saved selling the Palestinian rights__

True. In total agreement, thus I approve hamas participation in the elections, despite the futility of having elections while under occupation. They did the right thing at the right time.

  4. Forgot to add, no I never saw policemen not wearing uniforms. But I also never saw any country other than Israel bombing an academy of police, which is peaceful and civilian in nature. There are no red-lines for the terrorist usurper.

  5. Yeah, indeed, for now.
    But the mood is changing.

Moratinos, a sympathizer of zionism, cannot change the laws in Spain, only the Parliament can, and he has not the power to influence the parliament. But let's suppose the law -regarding universal jurisdiction- is modified. It won't affect the causes that are curently being followed, I mean, an amendmend of the law won't be retrospective. And the case against various zionists officers for war crimes is ongoing. Let's hope that justice will prevail. [The Spanish Courts have already tried and sentenced a general and two ministers (all spaniards), and put them behind bars]

I know you will disagree with me , but im with Lucia , they should forget the Uniform for the moment and the beard too , to save their lives and do a better job at the resistance like the ALgerian mujahedeen did , run past a french Soldier without the soldier realising that an algerian resistant figher has just passed . we will think of uniforms and things done properly at the Independence who cares if they still wear a tee shirt and jeans , and do a better job fooling the mossad and the shin bet .
the mossad send his agents in jeans covering their faces with a keffiyeh and not a proper uniform . (they are called the mistaravims )
