My peers, you and I, were too young to understand what the whole story was about. On that night, though, certain threads of that story became clearer. In the morning, and as the Jews withdrew threatening and fulminating, a big truck was standing in front of our door. Light things, mainly sleeping items, were being chucked into the truck swiftly and hysterically.I am too young to remember. But I have not forgotten. The Nakba continues with various acts of ethnic cleansing:
- Ghassan Kanafani, Land of Sad Oranges.
- At least 60,000 out of the estimated 225,000 Palestinians in East Jerusalem are at risk of having their homes obliterated because they have been deemed illegal by Israeli officialdom...
- Israeli settlers supported by military units have been bulldozing Palestinian farm lands that belongs the villagers of Sartah near the northern West Bank city of Salfit.
- A "security road" (aka a Jewish only road) to be built by Israel, will cut through Palestinian land. in the west bank .
- Eviction in Hebron
- Palestinian orchards bulldozed near Bethlehem
- Settlement expansion
- and soooo much more. across the west bank, within israel proper, in gaza...
