Hamas supporter dies of torture in Abbas's jails

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Hamas Movement asserted that the death of Haithem Omar, 28, in the prisons of former PA chief Mahmoud Abbas's security apparatuses in the West Bank was due to severe torture.

Hamas sources in the West Bank told PIC correspondent that Haithem, a paramedic, was subjected to severe torture rounds for four days after his abduction from his home on 10/6/2009. He was carried to hospital where he was pronounced dead at dawn Monday.

Haithem, from Al-Khalil district, was a member of the Islamic charitable society's board of directors and worked as a paramedic in a health ministry clinic. He is survived by a wife and two children.

Haithem was previously held in Israeli occupation jails.


Taha: No progress in political detention issue

Ayman Taha, a prominent Hamas political figure, has said that political detention was raised during the reconciliation committee meeting but without any progress achieved.

Hamas stated that it retains the right to retaliate to the violations committed by the PA security apparatuses against West Bank women and the Palestinian resistance.

Field committee for ending political arrest file meets today in Gaza and W. Bank

Hamas said that the first meetings of the field committee are supposed to be held Sunday evening in Gaza and the West Bank to put an end to the political arrest file.
