GAZA, (PIC)-- The Hamas Movement on Tuesday strongly denounced Fatah faction for repudiating its responsibility for the crimes committed by the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) militias in the West Bank and trying to portray that these militias are only under the control of Salam Fayyad, the premier of the illegitimate PA government in Ramallah, and not Fatah.

In a press statement, Hamas held Fatah, in its capacity as the organizational framework of these militias, in addition to Mahmoud Abbas, the ex-PA chief, and his aide Salam Fayyad fully responsible for the heinous practices of their militiamen, saying its attempts to evade the responsibility in this regard are ridiculous tricks that do not fool anybody.

In a related context, deputy head of Hamas parliamentary bloc Ismail Al-Ashqar deplored Fatah for asking Hamas to allow its leaders to leave Gaza for the West Bank to participate in its sixth conference, describing this as "political naivety".

Ashqar stressed that Fatah pretends to be naïve when it makes such demands and turns a blind eye to the crimes committed against the Palestinian people in its jails in the West Bank, the latest of which was the death of Sheikh Kamal Abu Ta’iyma as a result of his exposure to severe torture at the hands of Fatah militias.

“Fatah deviated from its national course and became indifferent to the interests of the Palestinian people and their issues. Its only concern is to serve the personal interests of some of its powerful cadres and implement its defeatist agenda based on the policy of security coordination and waving the Palestinian interests,” the lawmaker highlighted.

For his part, senior Hamas official Salah Al-Bardawil affirmed that his Movement told Cairo in writing that it would not allow anyone of Fatah leaders to leave for the West Bank before Fatah released all prisoners from its jails and provided Gaza with passports.
