Masri: Dahlan’s remarks verified what was revealed by Qaddoumi

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Hamas lawmaker Mushir Al-Masri stated Monday that the remarks made by Mohamed Dahlan days ago about the ability of Fatah faction to control the Gaza Strip during two hours confirmed Fatah leader Farouk Al-Qaddoumi’s statement about the involvement of Dahlan and Mahmoud Abbas in the assassination of Palestinian resistance leaders.

MP Masri added that such remarks confirmed that the confessions made by members of the spy rings arrested before or after the Israeli war about providing Israel through the PA with information about targets in Gaza were true.

The lawmaker described the attempts made by Dahlan to reappear in the Palestinian political arena and his threats about taking control over Gaza in cooperation with Israel as “desperate and failed attempts.”

Dahlan had said, on the sidelines of a memorial service held for elements of PA security forces who were killed in clashes with Al-Qassam fighters in Qalqiliya, that it would not take more than two hours if Fatah wanted to take over Gaza according to a simple security plan.

In another context, Fatah leader Hosam Khader stated Tuesday that his Movement's struggle history is used for the protection of personal interests and privileges of big leaders and not for the sake of the Palestinian people and their cause.

In a press statement to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, Khader said that the people who destroyed Fatah over the past 20 years were those who possessed considerable financial means through the positions they held and the millions they looted from the Palestinian people.

He stressed that there is a remarkable alliance between corrupt officials within Fatah who move in all directions using their posts and money to complete the destruction of Fatah and convert it from a national liberation movement into a political party having a marginal role in the national file.

Hamas slams Fayyad’s remarks about protection of Israel’s security

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said Tuesday that Salam Fayyad’s remarks about the need for deploying additional Palestinian security forces in the West Bank cities to block the resistance fighters from attacking Israel were explicit recognition that his security's arrests are aimed to liquidate the resistance and serve the occupation.

In a press statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC), spokesman Abu Zuhri added that these remarks belied earlier statements made by Mahmoud Abbas, the ex- chief of the Palestinian Authority (PA), in which he alleged the absence of political prisoners in his jails.

Fayyad had said on Monday in an interview with Washington Post newspaper that Palestinian security forces should be deployed widely in the West Bank cities in order to prevent any attacks against Israel and its citizens and confirmed that this was the only way to protect the national efforts to build the Palestinian state.

Fayyad also told the newspaper that the situation in the West Bank after the control of Hamas over the Gaza Strip became more difficult and vulnerable to a breakdown due to the PA’s inability to face the new challenges.

He said that he does not possess an adequate security experience, yet he is trying to solve the problems that followed the Palestinian intifada (uprising) that started in 2000 and resulted from the stalled cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis.

The newspaper, for its part, stated that this policy pursued by Fayyad gained the confidence of Israelis who gradually started to renew the security collaboration with the PA.

It stressed that many Palestinian, Israeli and American analysts asserted that Fayyad, as a result of his policies, lacks popularity among his people.

Qaddoumi: Abbas, Dahlan involved in poisoning Arafat

  1. UP, I'd like to know what's your opinion on Angry Arab's comments over the Qaddoumi bombshell (see his 9:41 post "Faruq Qaddumi and the Fath Conference") - which after all is not such a big surprise given that, as you aptly pointed out by linking to EI's 2007 article, Hamas had already disclosed Dahlan's complicity two years ago. But, I mean, if what AA says is true that any decent person has long ago left Fatah and what is left of Fatah is beyond repair, then, what's the purpose of Hamas's insistence on holding unity talks? I fail to grasp what they pretend. Wouldn't it be better to send Fatah to hell, to denounce them before the palestinian public opinion as what they are, show the people what the traitor Abbas and his clique stand for, and concentrate in those parties that stand for the national cause? What's your vision over all this? -Thanks in advance-
