Was there a trial by the Americans there or it is part of Iraqi sovereignty to do that? These bombings have caused a problem between Syria and Iraq, it was better for the Iraqi officials to look closer home than cause problems with countries they need to have good relationships with.

The two truck bombers involved in devastating attacks in Baghdad August 19, were recently released from the US custody, announces a senior Iraqi official.
The attacks on the Iraqi finance and foreign ministries killed 95 and injured some 600 people.
“The suicide bomber who blew himself up at the ministry of foreign affairs was released three months ago from Camp Bucca,” the interior ministry official said, referring to the US jail near Basra. He spoke to AFP on the condition of anonymity.
“The suicide bomber who blew himself up outside the ministry of finance was also released a few months ago from the same jail,” he added.
“We have no proof that a former detainee was involved in the bombings,” a US army spokesman claimed on Sunday.
Meanwhile the US has shrugged off the remarks made by the Iraqi official.
“The government of Iraq is still investigating the attacks, and it would be inappropriate for us to speculate as to who may have been involved while the investigation is ongoing.”
