Hamas: No legitimacy for the PLO; and results of the PNC meeting have no value

GAZA, (PIC)-- The change and reform parliamentary bloc of Hamas Movement said on Wednesday that it rejects the notion that the PLO [in its current setup] is still the umbrella that covers all sectors of the Palestinian people.

The bloc added, in a statement it issued on the Palestinian National Council (PNC) meeting in Ramallah, that it was rejecting this notion because the PLO has sidelined the biggest power in the Palestinian arena, and thus the PLO only represents those who are working to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

"We in the change and reform bloc, declare that we reject the outcome of the PNC and hold Abbas and the leadership of Fatah faction fully responsible for any adverse repercussions that might be inflicted on the Palestinian people and cause", the bloc added.

The bloc also accused Abbas and the leadership of Fatah of circumventing the Cairo agreement, the national harmony document stipulating the urgency of reforming the PLO, explaining that such behavior confirms that Fatah wasn’t sincere in achieving national reconcialtion.

"Their (Abbas and retinue) call on the PNC to convene at this point of time was indeed preemptive steps to abort all the efforts to reform the PLO on a national basis, and to derail the national reconciliation dialogue," the Bloc underlined.

Furthermore, the bloc stressed that Abbas strives hard to control the PLO, and to find a nominal executive committee of his own making that would pave the way for him to go ahead with his plans that would finish off the Palestinian cause, the right of return, and to accept a demilitarized Palestinian quasi-state without Jerusalem.
