GAZA, (PIC)-- A report issued by UN office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (OCHA) revealed that the ongoing Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip, now in its third year, triggered a "protracted human dignity crisis" with negative humanitarian consequences.

The OCHA stated that some 120, 000 employees have lost their jobs, while 75% of Gazans do not even have sufficient food, proper education and health services.

It also said that as Israel holds food supplies on the borders for extended periods under security claims, most of the food eventually expires and becomes unfit for human consumption.

Israel is holding some 17000 containers filled with foodstuffs and supplies. The goods stored in the containers are worth $10, 000, 000.

GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya said Tuesday that his government would not beg anyone to stand beside it, stressing that the Arab and Muslim countries have moral responsibility towards the Palestinian people who defend their holy places and dignity on their behalf.

In a press statement following the weekly cabinet meeting, premier Haneyya underlined that his government is following up the recent Israeli military escalation which caused many casualties in the ranks of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

He warned that the Palestinian resistance factions are still moving on the basis of commitment to calm, adding that the Israeli escalation is aimed to stimulate reactions so as to put Gaza in the face of a new military confrontation.

The premier also talked about the Israeli escalation in occupied Jerusalem, noting that the Arab and Muslim nations are demanded to assume their responsibilities in defense of the holy city and the Aqsa Mosque.

As for the news report published by the Swedish newspaper, Haneyya said his government appreciates the position of Sweden and calls on the international community to assume its humanitarian responsibility and expose Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people.

He added that the international community has to prosecute Israeli war criminals especially after the atrocities they committed in the last war on Gaza, urging all Palestinian families who did not receive the bodies of their sons detained by Israel to head to the ministry of justice and provide it with all evidence and facts they have.
