BETHLEHEM, (PIC)-- PA security officer Ziyad Hab Al-Reeh, the director of the preventive security, and his deputy Yusuf Isa approved during a special meeting with senior Israeli military officers an Israeli request to recruit PA policemen in the Israeli Arabized units in east Jerusalem.
According to reliable information, the meeting which was attended by commander of the central region Gadi Shamni and general Yoav Mordechai in addition to other Israeli officers and held in the headquarters of the preventive security apparatus in Bethlehem was intended for raising the level of security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
Shamni explained during the meeting that this security coordination would be for the first time between the Israeli police and the Shabak intelligence service on one hand and the preventive security affiliated with the PA on the other hand and would take place in the Old City in east Jerusalem in addition to Arab neighborhoods like Issawiya and Beit Hanina.
He added that this coordination would have a special nature that can be developed in the future, where in the beginning Palestinian policemen would not be allowed to carry weapons as happens in the West Bank
The Israeli commander noted that the kind of assistance required from the Palestinian party would be the participation in the Arabized units affiliated with Israeli border guards.
For his part, the preventive security director agreed to the Israeli demand and confirmed he would give quick instructions to choose the men suitable for this task.
In another context, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) intensified the presence of its troops in the occupied city of Jerusalem and imposed a comprehensive closure on the city.
The IOF troops prevented all means of transport from heading to the Aqsa Mosque and allowed only Palestinians over the age of 50 to walk long distances to the Mosque. Israeli surveillance drones and balloons were also watched flying over the holy city.
For its part, the popular resistance committees on Friday warned the IOA of persisting in its crimes against Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque, asserting that it would not remain passive towards the Israeli violations and would respond in the right time and place.
It emphasized that the vicious attack on the city of Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque is a message to the Arab and Muslim nations warning of the looming danger threatening the holy places in Jerusalem.
In light of the Zionist violations against the holy city and the Aqsa Mosque, the international conference on the preservation of cultural and religious landmarks in Jerusalem will kick off its sessions next Monday in Jordan.
According to Quds Press, the two-day conference will be held at the invitation of Al-Petra international studies and research foundation and will be attended by Muslim scholars, Christian clergy, researchers and academics.
The conference is aimed to highlight the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem, and to emphasize the cultural and historical interdependence between Islamic and Christian holy shrines in the holy city.
The conferees will also discuss the role of Arab Islamic and Christian institutions in preserving the Muslim and Christian landmarks and shrines.
