Oghlu: World must intervene to check Israeli violation of international law
[ 13/12/2009 - 09:28 AM ]
ISTANBUL, (PIC)-- Kamaludin Ehsan Oghlu, the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic conference (OIC), has condemned the Jewish settlers' arson attack on the Yasuf village mosque in the West Bank district of Salfit.
Oghlu said in a statement on Saturday that desecrating the mosque, burning copies of the holy Quran, and writing racist slogans on its walls against Islam and Muslims is an outright attack on sanctity of holy shrines.
He said that the world community should intervene to force Israel to halt its aggressions and to abide by the international law and the fourth Geneva Convention.
Jewish settlers at dawn Friday broke their way into the mosque, spilt petrol and started fire after writing racist remarks on its walls.
