Bardawil: We ask president Mubarak to live up to his promises
[ 30/12/2009 - 10:30 AM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil, one of Hamas's leaders, has asked Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak to live up to his promise of not allowing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to be starved.
Bardawil, in a press statement on Tuesday, said that the interior ministry in Gaza had contacted Egyptian intelligence officers on the steel wall being built by Egypt underneath the borders with Gaza.
He explained that the ministry said that borders with Egypt represented a lifeline for Gaza and that the continuation in building the wall would mean an execution sentence on thousands of Palestinian children who wait for their milk, medicine, and food through tunnels.
Bardawil noted that the Egyptian officers said that the issue was political and that the construction would continue, warning of any attempt to disrupt it.
The lawmaker denied presence of any other contact between Hamas and Egyptian officials over the issue
