GAZA, (PIC)-- Khalid Abu Hilal, the secretary-general of Al-Ahrar Movement in Palestine, said Saturday that the persistence of the Egyptian regime in building its steel wall on the borders with the Gaza Strip is a crime against humanity.

During a massive sit-in staged in front of Salahuddin terminal on the Palestinian-Egyptian borders, Abu Hilal added that this wall is aimed at tightening the noose around the Palestinian people in Gaza.

He called on the Egyptian leadership to take off the Zio-American dress and assume its moral responsibilities towards the people of Gaza.

The head of Al-Ahrar Movement strongly denounced Sheikh of Al-Azhar Mohamed Tantawi for issuing a fatwa affirming Egypt’s right to build the wall.

He said that during the brutal Israeli war on Gaza, Tantawi kept silent and did not issue any position towards what was happening, and now he suddenly woke up and issued a fatwa away from the Islamic religion legalizing Egypt’s participation in Gaza siege.

For his part, Egyptian lawmaker Mohamed Kasba, a member of the Muslim brotherhood parliamentary bloc, deplored Friday the building of the steel wall on Gaza borders, considering it a disgrace to Egypt and its people.

In a symposium on Gaza siege, Kasba underlined that depriving civilians of food and medicine is prohibited by international law, expressing belief that the blockade on Gaza would be broken one day away from the current Egyptian regime.

For his part, Egyptian lawmaker Subhi Saleh said Saturday in a recorded statement that the steadfastness of Gaza people during the Israeli war last year made a new history for the Arab and Muslim nations.

In a ceremony held by the Palestinian legislative council (PLC) on the first anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza, Subhi hailed the government in Gaza for its role during and after the war, saying it succeeded in managing the crisis professionally in an unprecedented way and proved its eligibility and credibility.
