GAZA, (PIC)-- The government committee to break the siege appealed to the international community and the UN to pressure Israel to respond to Amnesty International’s report which called for lifting the blockade on the impoverished Gaza Strip.

The committee said that the AI report exposed the brutality of the Israeli occupation and its blockade.

The committee welcomed the report and hailed all international efforts made to end the siege and the suffering of Gaza people.

The committee said that the Gaza people are in need more than ever for a unified Arab stance towards the Israeli siege and the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the Israeli war.

In another context, Al-Mizan center for human rights deplored Israel for deliberately opening the floodgates of one of its dams in Gaza valley without warning despite its prior knowledge of the disastrous consequences that would result from the sudden influx of large amounts of water into Gaza.

The center held Israel fully responsible for all damage caused by this premeditated action and demanded the international community to break their silence and move to stop the daily Israeli violations against Gaza people.

For its part, Sawasya center for human rights condemned what happened as one of the organized crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinians.

“This crime took place while Israel still imposes its blockade on the Gaza Strip for more than three years, which affected all walks of life in the Palestinian society,” the center underlined.

The center noted that the flooding of Gaza villages in this brutal way would exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and increase the number of displaced families after the last Israeli war rendered many of them homeless.
