Commission to Arab leaders: Declare occupied Jerusalem disaster area
PIC
[ 07/02/2010 - 03:38 PM ]
RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Islamic Christian commission catering for Jerusalem and holy shrines in Palestine has warned that the Israeli judaization of occupied Jerusalem had entered a serious stage.
Secretary general of the commission Hasan Khater told a press conference on Sunday that a Zionist lobby was recently formed within the Israeli parliament grouping most of the parties to support the judaization process, describing the event as a "serious escalation".
He recalled that all Israeli official and non official stands are unanimous that Jerusalem would remain the "eternal, unified capital of Israel".
Khater said that the situation in occupied Jerusalem did not bear good omens for a number of reasons including the continued internal Palestinian rift, weak Palestinian potentials and the absence of Arab or Islamic strategy to bolster the city's steadfastness.
He asked the Arab leaders, who are scheduled to convene in Libya in late March, to adopt a firm position regarding Jerusalem that should include declaring it a disaster area in addition to being an occupied city.
