DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- The Movement of Hamas strongly denounced Monday Mahmoud Abbas for accepting to resume his negotiation with Israel in return for a three-month settlement freeze, saying that he no longer represents the Palestinian people and is not entitled to express their hopes and aspirations.

In a press release, Hamas also said that Abbas’s position reflected his defeatist attitude and his personal point of view which is exceptional and abnormal in the revolutionary history of Fatah faction.

Hamas warned of resuming the circle of the frivolous negotiations that cover up settlement and Judaization activities in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank, adding that Abbas confirmed his readiness to make concessions and to comply with the Zio-American dictates.

Abbas told the British Guardian newspaper on Monday that he was ready to resume his peace talks with Israel if it halted its settlement activities for only three months and pledged not to allow any armed resistance activities against Israel.

In the same context, Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, said that Abbas’s approval to return to peace talks is a disavowal of all promises he made not to resume negotiations with Israel before a complete halt to settlement activities.

Dr. Bahar added that Abbas’s willingness to recognize Israel as a "Jewish state" is a cold-blooded execution of the Palestinian rights and constants, especially the issue of Palestinian refugees, which is the core of the conflict with the Israeli occupation.

He stressed that these disturbing developments point to something fishy being cooked at the expense of the Palestinian people, which entails quick moves to curb the menace threatening the Palestinian cause.

For his part, senior Hamas official and lawmaker Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil said that his Movement refuses the language of political courtship used by the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah to declare its readiness to resume negotiations with Israel.

Dr. Bardawil affirmed that Hamas would not recognize the outcome of any negotiations that respond to the conditions and diktats made by the American administration or the Israeli occupation.
