OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli policemen and intelligence officers on Sunday stormed and ransacked the headquarters of the Zakat committee in the Aqsa Mosque.

The guards of the holy Mosque reported that these security and intelligence elements came without prior notice and embarked on searching the headquarters and checking notebooks and papers.

The guards also said that a bunch of extremist Israeli settlers under heavy police protection broke into the courtyards of the Mosque and toured around.

Dr. Yousuf Al-Shrafi, a Hamas lawmaker, said that this raid on the holy Mosque Zakat committee proved further the criminal nature of the Israeli occupation towards the occupied city of Jerusalem and its people.

In another incident, Palestinian sources in Jerusalem revealed Monday that serious cracks and fissures were seen in the Marwani mosque, part of the Aqsa Mosque, believed to be caused by the Israeli ongoing excavations taking place underground.

Documentary photos illustrate that these fissures are concentrated in the columns and facades of the Marwani mosque.

In a separate context, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) kidnapped Monday morning 12 Palestinian citizens, three of them brothers, in the governorates of Nablus, Ramallah and Al-Khalil.

The Hebrew radio said that these citizens were wanted by Israel and referred to the competent authorities for investigation.

The IOF also removed for the seventh time a sit-in tent in Sheikh Jarrh neighborhood opposite the Ghawi family houses that were seized by Israeli settlers by force, the contents of the tent were also confiscated.

They also detained on the same day at noon a 45-year old Palestinian woman called Fatima Dyab for her attempt to pour hot oil on right-wing Knesset member Michael Ben Ari during a provocative tour he made to Palestinian homes taken over by Israeli settlers.
