Syrian MP: The destruction in Gaza surpassed what the Nazis did

GAZA, (PIC)-- Syrian lawmaker Mohamed Al-Zoghbi said Tuesday that the size of destruction which he and other members of the Arab parliamentary delegation saw in the Gaza Strip exceeded all expectations and surpassed what the Nazis did.

In a press statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC), Zoghbi stressed that the visit of the Arab lawmakers to Gaza was supposed to take place long time ago, noting that this visit is aimed to see the destruction inflicted on Gaza and convey the solidarity of Arab peoples to Gaza people.

For his part, Palestinian political analyst Mustafa Al-Sawaf played down the importance of the Arab delegation’s visit to Gaza, saying that this visit happened too late.

Sawaf added that this visit is only for media consumption and aimed to silence all those who criticize the Arab policies towards Gaza, affirming that that the steps taken by Arab regimes confirms the absence of a real will to support Gaza people.

“They came to the Gaza Strip without carrying any kind of aid to its besieged people and they also did not have a clear position regarding the iron wall which the Egyptian government is building,” he emphasized.

GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, on Monday stressed the importance of the visit made by Arab lawmakers to the Gaza Strip and called for providing political, financial and spiritual support for its people to strengthen their steadfastness.

In his speech before a delegation of Arab lawmakers in the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), Khudari expressed hope that this visit could make a breakthrough in lifting the Israeli blockade on Gaza and convey the humanitarian situation in Gaza to the international community.

“The Palestinian people is called upon to be united and steadfast, but in return this steadfastness should be supported by the Arab and Muslim nations by all political and financial possible means, the Palestinian lawmaker underlined.

He also briefed the Arab delegations on the catastrophic impacts of the blockade on all aspects of life in Gaza and its increase after the Israeli war.

For his part, Lebanese lawmaker Imad Al-Hout, a participant in the visiting Arab delegation, said that their visit is intended to deliver a message to Gaza people that they will not be left alone in the face of the Israeli occupation.

In a statement to Al-Quds satellite channel, Hout emphasized that the Arab peoples still consider the Palestinian cause their first national priority and stressed the importance of achieving the Palestinian national unity, which serves the Palestinian cause.

An Arab parliamentary delegation of 22 lawmakers led by Omani MP Dr. Salem Al-Kaabi entered Gaza on Monday through the Rafah border crossing to express solidarity with Gaza people and see closely the humanitarian situation there.
