GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), has asked the Arab League (AL) and the Islamic conference organization (OIC) to adopt a firm position so as to repel the Zionist danger threatening the Islamic holy shrines.
He warned in a statement on Sunday night that the storming of the Aqsa Mosque was the first step in a Zionist, racist plot to judaize the entire Islamic and Christian shrines in occupied Jerusalem especially after the latest racist decision of annexing the Ibrahimi and Bilal mosques to the list of Jewish historical sites.
Regional and international collusion with the Israeli occupation authority (IOA), whether directly or indirectly, is the most prominent factor encouraging Tel Aviv to go ahead in its crimes, Bahar charged.
The PLC deputy speaker proposed adopting practical, firm measures to save the Aqsa from Zionist targeting away from hollow words of condemnation.
Meanwhile, Hamas pledged in a statement on Sunday to defend the Palestinian people and holy shrines in face of the Israeli desecration, holding the IOA fully responsible for the consequences of its attacks.
It asked the Arab and Islamic masses to urgently protest the IOA attack, and urged the AL and the OIC to adopt strict measures against the IOA.
Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, told a press conference on Sunday that the IOA acts were in absolute disregard of the Arab and Muslim countries in addition to the international laws.
He called on the Arab leaders to adopt responsible and historic positions vis-à-vis the IOA offensive, and to adopt practical and daring resolutions in defense of Jerusalem and in support of the Palestinian people's steadfastness.
The spokesman asked the world community to bridle the IOA plots and to stand in defense of human rights and world peace, warning that the IOA crimes would result in waves of anger that would not be in favor of stability in the region and the world at large
