GAZA, (PIC)-- The Egyptian authorities are still persistent in obstructing and imposing restrictions on the travel of many Gaza students who obtained visas to study in universities abroad.
The Egyptian authorities are accused of humiliating and committing violations against some of these students while the only group of students allowed to travel are those who managed to find connections or backdoor means.
One of the students called Aziz said he planned to travel to Ukraine to complete his higher education, paid his tuition fees, got the visa and processed all travel documents, but the Egyptian authorities excludedhim every time the Rafah border crossing is opened and only allow small number of students who are recommended by others to travel.
A student of English literature called Mohamed who studies at an Egyptian university was also prevented by the authorities because his common name was similar to the name of someone else wanted by the state security as they claimed.
Iyad, a 22-year-old student at a Chinese university, complained he was detained with other Palestinian passengers inside a bus, before the Egyptian authorities took them to a room in Cairo airport unfit for human use in preparation for allowing them to catch their planes.
The authority of crossings in Gaza said it coordinated with the Palestinian interior ministry and both made all arrangements for the travel of 6,000 citizens who have essential reasons for travel, but the Egyptian policy of determining the numbers of passengers and the days of travel, and the way of treating some of them more favorably than others deprived many, especially students, of their turn to travel.
