Al-Manar
05/05/2010 The Palestinian de facto government's Minister of Prisoners Affairs said Tuesday that captured Israeli occupation soldier Gilad Shalit would not be returned to his family unless the demanded Palestinian detainees are released.
Faraj Al-Ghoul said resistance proved the only means to secure the release of Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody, following the failure of all talks on a potential prisoner swap deal, during a Pledge For Jerusalem and Loyalty for Detainees festival organized by Hamas in the Beach Martyrs Boys School in Gaza.
The de facto minister described UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's decision not to meet with the families of Palestinian detainees during a visit to the Gaza Strip and to meet with Shalit's family as an indication of "international racial discrimination against the prisoner cause."
Arab support for Palestinian detainees appears lacking, Al-Ghoul added.
