DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Head of Hamas’s political bureau Khaled Mishaal stated that the Arab countries are demanded at the current stage to take a courageous stand against the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip after many peoples from all over the world took a practical step to break the siege this month.
The Hamas leader pointed out that the blockade issue dominated the recent meeting between Russian president Dmitry Medvedev and his Syrian counterpart Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus, adding that he also talked extensively with Medvedev about this issue.
He highlighted that his Movement does not seek war, but it will resist and defend its people if it finds itself compelled to do so.
“We do not want to increase the burdens of Gaza people, but we will fight because Israel’s rationale for war is still there to a great extent; we just do not know the timing,” the political leader of Hamas underlined.
The leader stressed that Israel also need a green light from the US administration to wage another massive war on Gaza, warning it that any war would never be a picnic.
Speaking about the inter-Palestinian reconciliation, he said that Arab and European parties told him clearly that the international community would not allow any national reconciliation agreement to take place before Hamas complies with the international quartet committee’s terms.
