ATHENS, (PIC)-- Staff members of the Fatah-controlled PA embassy in Athens blocked a meeting for Dr. Mohammed Al-Farra, the mayor of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, with the Palestinian community in Greece, well informed Greek sources said.
They told Quds Press that the Palestinian community had asked Dr. Farra to deliver a speech at the community's premises in Athens on the current situation in the Gaza Strip.
They added that embassy staffers went to the community building two hours before the meeting and threatened the community representatives, noting that one of them took out a gun to add pressure on the community officials.
The community members were forced under such threats to give up the invitation but a number of them personally hosted Dr. Farra and asked him to understand the situation.
The Khan Younis municipality chief is visiting Athens at the invitation of a Greek city which signed a twinning agreement with Khan Younis last year. Dr. Farra held a series of meetings with official and popular forces in Athens during his visit and delivered a number of lectures on the conditions in the besieged Strip.
