PA militias torture human right activist, nab 7 Hamas supporters
[ 06/05/2010 - 10:58 AM ]
RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Palestinian human rights foundation (Rased) reported Wednesday that its representative in Jordan Muhannad Salahat is exposed to excruciating torture at the hand of Abbas’s security militias in the West Bank in order to extract recorded confessions from him.
Rased affirmed that a PA intelligence officer, directly involved in kidnapping Salahat, forced him to make a serious statement justifying his arrest, noting that Salahat was tortured immediately after the remarks made by its chairman Abdelaziz Tarkaji in which he vowed to prosecute senior PA intelligence officers in European courts.
Meanwhile, those militias continued their war against Hamas and resistance in the West Bank and rounded up seven of Hamas supporters in the districts of Nablus, Al-Khalil, and Ramallah, a Hamas statement in the West Bank said on Thursday.
The statement said that six of the seven were previous detainees in Israeli occupation jails, and that one of them was detained only few days after his marriage.
