Barhoum: Accepting Israel at OECD legitimizes settlement
[ 11/05/2010 - 06:09 PM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- Fawzi Barhoum a Hamas spokesman, described the acceptance of Israel as full member in the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as an endorsement of the judaization policy and a legitimization of settlement activity.
He said in a press statement on Tuesday that the decision was a "serious" mistake on the part of the OECD, adding that the Palestinian people would be the victim of such a decision.
The spokesman said that admitting Israel into the OECD at a time it is practicing "state terrorism" against the Palestinian people and robbing their resources, lands, and wealth only grants more legitimacy to that entity and increases its greed over Palestinian wealth and land.
Nunu: Israeli admittance into OECD a reward for its crimes
[ 11/05/2010 - 09:22 AM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian government of Ismail Haneyya has expressed concern over the news of Israel's admittance into the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) at a time it was escalating racist measures against the Palestinian people.
Taher Al-Nunu, the government's spokesman, said in a statement on Monday that Israel was still maintaining its oppressive siege of the Gaza Strip, bisecting the West Bank, and persisting in the construction of the racist, separation wall.
He further noted that Israel was using internationally-banned weapons that killed hundreds of children, women, and elderly people other than destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and places of worship while intensifying settlement activity in the West Bank in violation of the international law.
The spokesman reminded the European countries that Israel had used forged European passports in its assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh in Dubai.
"We do not rule out that Israel might use its presence in economic unions to commit more serious crimes against the Palestinian people and humanity at large," he elaborated, adding that accepting Israel in the OECD was a reward for its crimes.
Nunu said that the OECD should have rather imposed economic sanctions on Israel in order to force it to obey the international laws and the fourth Geneva Convention.
Barhoum: USA encouraging IOA to commit more crimes
[ 10/05/2010 - 05:20 PM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, said that his movement views with utmost concern the American administration's intention to supply the Israeli air force with cluster bombs and other destruction weapons.
He noted in a press release on Monday that the deal was made at a time when the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) was threatening Gaza and the Palestinian people along with Arab and Islamic neighboring countries with more murder, destruction, and shelling of homes and installations.
He said that the step was heralding more dangers to the Palestinian people and more war crimes against the Palestinians and peoples in the region, adding that it represents an actual participation on the part of the American administration in the IOA violations and crimes against humanity.
The spokesman said that the deal contradicted what president Barack Obama had announced in his speech in Cairo in which he talked about respecting freedoms, human rights, and the right of the Palestinian people to live in freedom and security in an independent state.
Barhoum said that the American security, military, financial, and political support to the IOA at a time it was threatening more wars constituted a green light to the IOA to go ahead in its crimes and violations.
