GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, strongly denounced the Palestine liberation organization (PLO) factions for accepting to get engaged in negotiations with Israel, saying they became a tool controlled by Fatah movement and its authority.

In a press statement to Al-Resalah net, Dr. Zahhar added that the leftist factions serve the policies of Fatah whether consciously or not, and use the name of the PLO as a peg to hang their irresponsible actions on, stressing that there is no such thing as the PLO.

The Hamas leader underlined that these factions accepted to resume the negotiations to relieve the American embarrassment and embellish the Israeli government’s image.

He noted that since 1992, the peace talks have not achieved the minimum rights of the Palestinian people.

In the same context, a number of Hamas officials said that the decision taken by the PLO executive committee to resume talks with Israel is a foregone conclusion because it was already taken by Mahmoud Abbas and his authority.

They affirmed that Abbas wanted to confer legitimacy on his negotiations with Israel, first through the Arab follow-up committee and then the PLO which in fact does not represent the Palestinian people because it was not established through elections.

Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil, the spokesman for Hamas’s parliamentary bloc, described the PLO’s negotiation decision as a worn-out and miserable cover that does not protect the back of Fatah negotiators.

Dr. Bardawil expressed his belief that these negotiations will fail and the project of Abbas could never be culminated with success since it is opposed by the Palestinian people and the majority of the factions.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri also accused in a statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC) the PLO of tampering with the Palestinians’ higher interests and held it responsible for covering up Israel’s crimes.

For his part, Dr. Yousuf Rizqa, the political advisor to the Palestinian premier, highlighted in a press release that the PLO decision to restart peace talks with Israel does not represent the vision of the Palestinian people and their national factions, asserting that these negotiations will be a waste of time.

The PLO decision was also denounced by both the Hamas parliamentary bloc and the coalition of the Palestinian factions in Damascus, which said that this decision was taken in compliance with the Zio-American dictates and against the national rights and interests of the Palestinian people.

They also warned in separate statements of the consequences of this decision that will cover up Israel’s escalating settlement and Judaization activities in the West Bank and will cause serious damage to the Palestinian cause.
