Fatah: American reservations blocking reconciliation

[ 04/07/2010 - 08:46 AM ]

WASHINGTON, (PIC)-- Sabri Saidam, one of the Fatah leaders and a close associate of its leader Mahmoud Abbas, said that the American administration's reservations on the Palestinian reconciliation were blocking it.

Lebanese daily Assafir quoted Saidam, advisor to Abbas in technology affairs and deputy secretary of Fatah's revolutionary council, as saying that the Palestinian reconciliation would not be a burden on the peace process.

He feared the possibility of turning Palestine into separate mini-states in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, warning that such a possibility would not serve peace and security in the region.

The Fatah leader, who is currently visiting the USA, said that breaking the siege on Gaza and achieving reconciliation were Palestinian priorities at the present stage.
