NAZARETH, (PIC)-- The so-called Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation will study on Monday a bill stripping former Arab Knesset member, Dr. Azmi Bishara, of all pay and allowances, in the context of what Arab MPs regard a direct escalation against them.
According to Israeli sources, if the law is adopted, Bishara will no longer receive funds and financial receivables to which he is entitled in accordance with provisions of law which mandate continued pay of his monthly salary in the wake of his resignation from his membership in the Knesset, which was Bishara’s response to the lawsuit filed against him by Israeli authorities who accused him of "communicating with Hezbollah in Lebanon."
The project was initiated by Likud MP, Yariv Levin and MP Yisrael Hasson, from the opposing Kadima bloc, who recently began collecting signatures and approvals for the law from Israeli parliamentarians.
