IOA plans to build new tunnels under J'lem
[ 16/08/2010 - 01:32 PM ]
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) intends to build new tunnels beneath the occupied city of Jerusalem connecting the Judaized Sharaf neighborhood (formerly Arab area) in the Old City with Al-Buraq plaza and the Aqsa Mosque, according to Haaretz newspaper.
The newspaper added that this project is awaiting final approval from the Israeli interior ministry's planning committee.
Haaretz had revealed this project more than a year ago, but republishing this news again and in the first page heralds that the Israeli occupation will escalate its actions against the Aqsa Mosque and has intentions to Judaize all its vicinity.
The Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage, for its part, said that this project poses a direct threat to the Aqsa Mosque and is aimed to divide it.
The foundation also recalled the remarks made lately by the Israeli police director in which he said that the police forces conduct drills simulating a military attack on the Aqsa Mosque.
It called on the Palestinians in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the 1948 occupied lands to frequent the Aqsa Mosque, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, in order to confront any Israeli malicious intents against it.
In another context, the international Tadamon (solidarity) foundation for human rights stated in a report that the IOA escalated last month its demolition policy against the Palestinian homes and razed more than 124 homes and structures in the West Bank and the regions of Negev and Jordan valley.
Its report affirmed that Israel erased during July entire Palestinian villages from existence and displaced dozens of families, mostly children and women, as happened in the villages of Araqib and Farsia.
