Islamic Action: Direct talks a threat to Jordan, Palestine

AMMAN, (PIC)-- Jordan’s largest political party spoke out Wednesday against going into direct negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel, warning the state against giving support to the Palestinian Authority (PA) in that regard.

Murad Adhayleh, a senior official in the Islamic action front party, warned that the PA’s negotiations would undermine the Palestinians’ rights, especially regarding the issues of refugees, territories, and Jerusalem.

“The authority runs after the talks at a sensitive time and without strong cards,” he said, adding that there are no grounds for talks as long as key issues are still left in the air.

“Any solution during these negotiations will be at Jordan’s expense,” he said, stressing the need for a firm and clear stand against the Ramallah authority’s actions.

Adhayleh, in a statement published by his party's' website, denounced the PA’s steps to ban scholars and preachers from preaching and shut down institutions for memorizing the Quran, noting the recent decision to reduce the sound of the Koran from minarets "in consideration for the feelings of Israeli settlers".

“Has the (PA’s) identity become Jewish so that it would fight the sound of the Quran in the West Bank in consideration for the feelings of settlers?” he added.

“All these practices committed by the PA are only in favor of the Jews and their plans to eliminate resistance in the occupied West Bank,” he noted.

He also talked about the insulting pictures of detained Palestinians posted on the internet by ex-Israeli soldier Eden Abergil, calling the act “unsurprising” from Israelis.

"They are a fascist, Nazi community which doesn’t understand humanity and does not care about the peoples feelings” Adhayleh commented.

“But what’s surprising is the persistence of some Palestinians in running after the [Israeli] occupation during negotiations manipulated by the occupation and not providing anything in them for the Palestinians,” he concluded.
