KHAN YOUNIS, (PIC)-- One Palestinian resistance fighter at least was killed Monday evening during armed clashes with an infiltrating Israeli military force in the vicinity of Kissufim border crossing, east of Khan Younis in Gaza, while unconfirmed news said that another fighter was also murdered.

Local sources told the PIC reporter that fighter Bassam Al-Daghma was seen lying on the ground between the gate of Al-Bureij refugee camp and Abasan town, near Kissufim crossing, pointing out that whenever the ambulances tried to evacuate the casualty, the Israeli troops opened fire at them.

Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, stated that all communications with a group of its fighters were cut off after they were targeted by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) during clashes east of Khan Younis.

The Brigades added that one of its groups was able at 3:00 pm yesterday to fend off an Israeli military force as it was trying to sneak into Al-Qarara town and used medium and light weapons in its attack, which led to the injury of one Israeli soldier in his face.

It noted that the IOF was forced to use heavy artillery to target its fighters to help its sneaking force.

The PIC was told that two resistance fighters were killed, but only the name of one of them has been disclosed so far.

The IOF command, for its part, said that an armored vehicle driver sustained shrapnel wounds in his face when his vehicle was targeted by Palestinian fighters.

For its part, the Salahuddin Brigades, the armed wing of the popular resistance committees, claimed responsibility for shooting an Israeli soldier topping his armored vehicle east of Khan Younis on Monday evening and pointed out that the IOF announced the injury of one of its troops.

The Brigades said that its fighters also targeted a group of Israeli soldiers near Al-Farrahin area.
