Mishaal slams Washington talks kicking off today
[ 01/09/2010 - 01:57 PM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- Head of Hamas's political bureau Khaled Mishaal reiterated his Movement's rejection of the US-sponsored direct talks that would start in Washington on Wednesday in the presence of the Jordanian king and the Egyptian president.
During a dinner meeting for orphans hosted by Hamas on Tuesday in Damascus, Mishaal described Washington talks as a market for slave labor intended for selling Palestine.
He also said that members of the negotiation team are a minority not representing the majority of the Palestinian people.
For its part, the Palestinian government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya said Tuesday that de facto president Mahmoud Abbas has no mandate from the Palestinian people to negotiate on their behalf, and thus his agreements with Israelis are non-binding for them and considered a violation of the national consensus.
Following its weekly cabinet meeting, the government stated that the negotiations with the Israeli occupation state give it a cover to persist in its blockade on Gaza and its settlement and Judaization activities in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, the thing which entails action to isolate and prosecute the Israeli leaders for their crimes instead of talking with them.
It stressed that the Palestinian people would not remain passive towards the policy of concessions pursued by the unconstitutional Palestinian Authority in Ramallah and its submission to the dictates of Washington and the Israeli government, and would hold accountable everyone waiving their rights and constants.
