GAZA, (PIC)-- The Hamas movement in Gaza said Director of the New York Representative Office of the UN’s Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) should be dismissed over scoffing remarks he blurted out on the Palestinian refugees’ right to return.
UNRWA’s New York Director Andrew Whitley said the Palestinian refugees must not live in the illusion of achieving the right to return, and Arab countries must search for a place for them in their lands to resettle there.
Hamas’s refugees department in statement a Wednesday denounced Whitley’s remarks, calling for strict sanctions to be taken against him.
The department stressed that the Palestinian people as a whole have the right legally guaranteed by all international laws to return to their homes from which they were expelled, adding that the right to return is non-negotiable and inalienable, and is also a collective right of the Palestinians.
Hamas has repeatedly expressed disapproval of all resettlement and displacement projects and initiatives aimed at undermining the rights of the Palestinians.
