GAZA, (PIC)-- The league of Palestine scholars has urged West Bankers to revolt in face of the Israeli crimes and to protect the holy shrines against the "big dangers threatening them".
The league said in a statement on Monday that the attacks on mosques and burning them was a crime against God, charging that the perpetrators of such a "sinful crime" are devoid of any religion, values, or morals.
It said that the Israeli government was the one that gave its settlers the green light to attack holy sites.
Settlers are persisting in their "ferocious attacks" with no clear stand on the part of the PA in Ramallah, which signals collusion, the league charged.
A group of Israeli settlers set Al-Anbya mosque on fire at dawn Monday in Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem, and attempts are still ongoing to burn more mosques.
In a similar incident, hundreds of settlers were gathering on Nablus district lands on Monday near Salman Al-Faresi mosque demanding its destruction.
Thousands of Palestinians from several nearby villages were also grouping to block the settlers from reaching the mosque.
The so-called Israeli civil administration of the West Bank had issued a decision ordering the demolition of the mosque for not obtaining a building permit from it. Settlers were rallying to accelerate the process.
