MP Qar'awi: Fatah uses reconciliation as a bargaining chip against Israel and US

TULKAREM, (PIC)-- Hamas lawmaker Fathi Qar'awi stated that Fatah faction is not serious about ending the national estrangement with its rivals and only uses the issue of reconciliation as a bargaining chip against Israel and the US administration.

In a press statement to Quds Press, Qar'awi said that the Fatah-controlled Palestinian authority (PA) does not bring up the issue of reconciliation with Hamas unless it has a diplomatic crisis with the US administration or other parties which he described as "the countries in control of the Palestinian decision."

"Whenever there are signs of a near solution to this crisis, Fatah faction is very skilled at eluding, making excuses and accusing Hamas as the party that thwarts the reconciliation," he added.

The lawmaker deplored de facto president Mahmoud Abbas for declaring more than once his readiness to end the conflict with the Israeli occupation and make concessions on a number of the Palestinian constants and rights in the event of a political settlement with Israel.

He stressed that Abbas has no right to cede a grain of Palestinian soil or one of the national constants, or decide the fate of the Palestinian people.

For its part, the democratic front for the liberation of Palestine (DFLP) called on all Palestinian factions to close ranks and make moves to end the internal division and strengthen the Palestinian people's steadfastness in the face of the Israeli occupation.

In a news conference held in Gaza on Saturday, the DFLP urged Fatah to backtrack on its direct negotiations with the Israeli occupation and work on developing an alternative national strategy in order to make the refugees' dream to return to their homes come true and establish their independent state.

The democratic front stressed the need for adhering to the resistance option, correcting the decision-making mechanism pursued by the Palestinian liberation organization (PLO) and going to the meeting of the Arab peace initiative committee and the Arab summits with a unified Palestinian decision.

In a separate incident, the PA security militias and the Israeli occupation forces kidnapped three Palestinian citizens thought to be affiliated with Hamas Movement in the cities of Ramallah, Tulkarem and Jenin, according to local sources on Sunday.
