17/11/2010 Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah was quoted on Tuesday as saying that Hezbollah and its allies have scenarios to implement after the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's anticipated indictment against the Resistance party, stressing that the national opposition has actually managed to undermine the indictment.
“Ever since Hezbollah took its decision to engage in a battle against the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, it was able to defuse the indictment that is expected to be issued,” Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar quoted Sayyed Nasrallah during a speech he delivered before a number of the party's cadres at their graduation ceremony.
Sayyed Nasrallah said that the indictment will be issued sooner or later. “But what changed is that the idea that this indictment is a "political decision" has been instilled in the minds of the public opinion,” his eminence pointed out.
Hezbollah Secretary General reportedly said that the Resistance party and its allies have scenarios to implement after the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's anticipated indictment that vary between “staying idle, and causing a major political change in power.”
Sayyed Nasrallah also stressed during the meeting the importance of the Syrian-Saudi effort aimed at achieving a “fair settlement” in the country, pointing out that “what speeds up reaching results is the fact that the Saudi leadership is convinced that the situations are dangerous and that the indictment could ruin the country.”
His eminence emphasized that the party's opponents and enemies had been wagering that Hezbollah allies, mainly Speaker Nabih Berri as well as MP Michel Aoun and other allies within the Sunni sect, would distance themselves from the party. He described the relationship between Hezbollah and AMAL Movement as "strategic,” stressing it was very beneficial in safeguarding the Resistance.
Hezbollah Secretary General ruled out the possibility of an Israeli aggression against Lebanon anytime soon, revealing that the Israelis have not yet finished their preparations to confront the Resistance, especially on their internal front. “The Israelis are convinced that any future war will require the evacuation of a large number of settlers,” his eminence pointed out.
According to Al-Akhbar, Sayyed Nasrallah has called during his speech Hezbollah officials to “return to mosques and feel the pain of the poor people in their communities, and to stay away from manifestations of luxury.”
Describing the political evolution of Hezbollah since its beginning, Sayyed Nasrallah said that the party has a large impact on the whole region, where "our word is heard in Iran, and in Syria President Bashar Assad consults us regarding many issues."
"We also have friends with whom we have been playing important roles in Iraq and Palestine," Al-Akhbar quoted Sayyed Nasrallah as saying.
