Bardawil: Fatah's talk about a last meeting with Hamas is meaningless

GAZA, (PIC)-- Senior Hamas official Salah Al-Bardawil said Fatah's claims that the meeting to be held with his Movement later this month would be the last one is a nonsense, stressing that Fatah must abide by the national agenda and stop its security cooperation with the Israeli occupation in order to reach a reconciliation agreement.

"The contacts with Fatah movement led to an agreement on holding a meeting at the end of the current month, but no specific date has been yet set for the meeting," Bardawil told the Palestinian information center (PIC) on Wednesday.

"The remarks made by Fatah leaders and spokesmen that this meeting will be the last one is a baseless talk, for we are not talking about first and last meeting but about reaching an agreement and understanding based on protecting the [national] constants," he underlined.

"Fatah should abide by the national conditions, and stop its security cooperation with the occupation and serving it. These are self-evident issues that should be done and there is no value for what they are talking about," the Hamas official emphasized further.

In another context, the Palestinian center for defending prisoners expressed deep concern over the lives of the six Palestinian hunger strikers being held by the Palestinian authority in West Bank jails.

The center said on Wednesday that a tragedy could happen if the detainees continued their hunger strike and the PA security forces refused to release them.

The center learned from the families of these hunger strikers that their sons went on hunger strike in protest at the gruesome violations committed against them by PA interrogators and jailers. They also warned that their sons may die any moment.

The center appealed to all human rights organization to urgently intervene to pressure the PA to immediately release the six hunger strikers, especially since there is a real danger threatening their lives.

The same center also demanded the release of two female detainees from Israeli jails called Linan Abu Ghalma and her sister Tagreed, affirming that Linan went on hunger strike 15 days ago and now she is in a very serious health condition.
