PA's torture of Hamas's people is only a matter of time, What is happening in WB is high treason

GAZA, (PIC)-- The ministry of prisoners in the Gaza Strip has urged the Palestinian people to stand up in solidarity with the political detainees in the West Bank.

The ministry officials, addressing a press conference on Monday night, said that what is happening in the West Bank at the hands of security militias loyal to Fatah leader and de facto president Mahmoud Abbas is a big betrayal of the Palestine question.

It held the Ramallah authority responsible for the lives of those detainees and for those who are on hunger strike especially after the serious deterioration in their health conditions.

Hamas MP Mushir Al-Masri, for his part, said that militia leaders in the West bank should stand trial at international courts for their cruel treatment of detainees and violations of human rights.

He accused Abbas's authority of intentional blackout on news of those detainees, and called on human rights groups to shed light on the violations committed by Abbas's authority in this regard.

The Palestinian center for defense of prisoners in Gaza expressed absolute concern over the lives of those detainees.

Director of the center Ismail Al-Thawabta told the PIC on Monday night that relatives of those detainees affirmed that they were adamant on maintaining their hunger strike until their demands for immediate release as ruled by the higher court were met.

He warned that the death of those detainees would lead to catastrophic results and would "burn all cards" used to resolve the internal division.

A mother of one of those detainees told the PIC on Monday night that they did not end their strike as alleged by the Fatah-controlled militias.

She said that the Red Cross had visited her son Majd Obeid last Thursday and said that he was still on strike and that his health was worsening as a result.

Barhoum: PA's torture of Hamas's people is only a matter of time

[ 20/12/2010 - 08:01 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a statement Monday that the Palestinian Authority's torture of his party's elements was only a matter of time.

“The Hamas movement is greater than your prisons,” Barhoum said, addressing the Fatah party. “The time for Hamas's heroes is definitely coming, and your pleasure in torturing our people is a matter of time only. In the end, will and resistance shall triumph.”

Barhoum called on Hamas supporters in the West Bank to confront Fatah intelligence officials. “Our national and religious duty calls for challenge not surrender.”

He placed some of the blame on rights groups and factions in Palestine that have abandoned their responsibilities and stand as a whole on the sidelines amid the violations.

Lawmakers in Palestine have become frustrated over the breaches in law and freedoms in the Fatah-controlled West Bank.

“As politicians we condemn the violations of law and freedoms, and harassment of prisoners that is taking place,” said Omar Abdel Raziq, a Hamas MP in the Palestinian Legislative Committee.

Abdel Raziq stressed that the PA political arrests and torture against Hamas affiliates is unlawful and unconstitutional, and accused Fatah of rebelling against the law.

“The conditions of detainees in PA prisons, those among them who went on hunger strike in particular, is very disturbing in light of restrictions on visits, and their going their twenty fifth day of striking.”

“We fear over the endless possibilities against their lives, so we are holding PA officials liable in releasing them immediately.”

The Rights for All group in Switzerland has announced launching a campaign to end the PA's humanitarian violations. The group has made several contacts with UN rights organizations in an effort to pressure the PA to release all political prisoners.

The rights fund placed particular stress on the European Union, as one of the largest financial and political sponsors of the PA, to pressure the West Bank authority, arguing that funds received are used to torture and violate the human rights of the people.
