Hamas: Al-Jazeera papers proved the PA aborted Goldstone report

GAZA, (PIC)-- The Hamas Movement said the new papers revealed by Al-Jazeera satellite channel on Wednesday evening were very serious and proved the Fatah-controlled Palestinian authority's responsibility for withdrawing Goldstone report and its involvement in Gaza war.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that Al-Jazeera leaked papers confirmed that the Palestinian people are facing a national crime and an alliance between Fatah negotiators and the Israeli occupation against their rights and interests.

Spokesman Abu Zuhri affirmed that the interview conducted by Al-Jazeera satellite channel with PA negotiator Saeb Erekat showed conclusively that the leaked documents were authentic.

For his part, senior Hamas official Yahya Mousa said that what was revealed by Al-Jazeera about the concessions made by the PA was much less than what its negotiators and officials have committed against the Palestinian people.

In a march in Khan Younis yesterday, Mousa stressed that Palestine is not for sale and its people deserve leaders better than the ones that installed themselves as representatives of the Palestinians in the West Bank.

He stated that it is very shameful that this PA gang lead the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom and liberation.

New official papers from Al-Jazeera channel revealed yesterday that de facto president Mahmoud Abbas was informed by Israel about its intention to wage a war in the winter of 2008 on the Gaza Strip.

Other documents revealed that the PA continued its contacts with Israel during and after the war two years ago, urged the latter to tighten the siege on Gaza in an attempt to destabilize the rule of Hamas and undermined Goldstone report which accused Israel of committing serious war crimes against Gaza population.

According to the papers, the PA told Israelis and Americans about its willingness to abort Goldstone report in exchange for Israel's approval to resume the negotiations.

Hindi: Concessions on Jerusalem are not surprising

GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Mohammed Al-Hindi, a politburo official in the Islamic Jihad Movement, said the newly revealed documents detailing concessions by Palestinian negotiators was not a surprise.

He added negotiators should be held accountable.

Al-Jazeera TV began Sunday showing some of 1,600 leaked documents revealing record compromises Palestinian negotiators made over sovereignty of nearly all of East Jerusalem and on Palestinian refugees' right to return.

Other documents detailed close security coordination between Israel and the Palestinian authority, including attempts to kill leading Hamas figures.

"The documents presented by Al-Jazeera were not surprising," Hindi said. "Most of the issues discussed had already been presented."

What was shocking was the amount of concessions made on Jerusalem and borders, he said.

"These same people proclaim night and day their commitment to the path of Yasser Arafat and make these concessions. They must be held accountable for it."

The documents serve as condemning evidence because they contain confessions, Hindi went on to say. If the negotiators' position was sound, the courts can open a fair investigation into the leaked information.

Why was there no outrage over the many reports of security coordination between Israel and the PA; and why did Palestinian officials not deny the accounts if they were fabricated? Hindi questioned.

How can Fatah explain the joint drills in Ramallah, Jenin and Bethlehem, employee visits to the Yad Vashim memorial and arrests and assassinations targeting resistance fighters if Fatah denies involvement in security cooperation? he further asked.

"If negotiations caused all of this conflict and scandal, why do they defend and commit to them? Why do they not disengage from negotiations and free the resistance fighters?"

It is difficult to restore trust now and build unity and social cohesion while we face this confusing political situation, he said.

"Arab, Islamic and international support will increase. The negotiators who were involved in the concessions are who will be affected. The fictitious legitimacy will be taken from them and will not be returned by the Arabs who granted negotiation covers, because whoever provides a cover after today will be an accomplice in the neglect of Palestine."
