GAZA, (PIC)-- The Cairo authorities did not release any of the Palestinian detainees in Egypt, relatives of those prisoners in the Gaza Strip said in a statement on Wednesday.

They said that the first report from Egypt about the release of 14 detainees was not true, as they were released from jail then taken back to it.

They added that the reported nine other detainees to be released on Wednesday were among the earlier 14 and were still in custody.

The relatives denounced the Egyptian authorities for tampering with their feelings, affirming that 24 detainees in the Egyptian Aqrab jail in Hilwan had entered their fifth day of hunger strike.

GAZA, (PIC)-- Hundreds of Palestinian passengers are stranded outside Egypt and their suffering is exacerbating because of the Egyptian authorities' refusal to allow them to fly back to Cairo airport in order to return from there to the Gaza Strip.

Informed sources told the Palestinian information center (PIC) on Wednesday that hundreds of Palestinians have not been able to travel back to Gaza since the former Egyptian regime declined their entry into the country.

They added that in some cases, the Egyptian authorities returned Palestinian passengers via the same airplanes they came aboard and others failed to get tickets from the Egyptian airline at the pretext there were orders in this regard.

The sources noted that the passengers had traveled previously outside Gaza for many purposes such as work, education and medical treatment and now they are stuck at different international airports.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian authority of crossings and borders said on Wednesday evening that dozens of Palestinian passengers left or entered Gaza through the Egyptian-Palestinian Rafah border crossing.

The authority pointed that 313 out of 333 citizens left Gaza and 22 others were denied entry into Egypt for unknown reasons, while 66 passengers crossed into Gaza.
