Britain: Majority Fear Britain’s Military Campaign in Libya Leads to Prolonged Iraq-Like Conflict

Local Editor

A ComRes poll for The Independent shows that 71 percent against 24 percent of the UK public said they fear Britain's military campaign in Libya is dragging the country "into a prolonged conflict like the Iraq war".
Labour supporters had a more stark view of the future of military intervention in Libya than supporters of other parties as 77 percent of them feared Libya could turn out to be another Iraq for Britain, a belief shared by 67 percent of Conservatives and 70 percent of Liberal Democrats.

This comes as despite earlier comments by Prime Minister David Cameron that Libya is "not another Iraq", a number of MPs are reportedly beginning to ask the government for an "early exit strategy".
